William Forster III viola

William Forster III (1764-1824) was part of the Forster luthier family in London, apprenticing to his father William Forster II.  His first completed instruments date from 1879.

Despite it’s small size, this viola boasts a strong, warm tone, while still responding effortlessly and easily. It is finished with a rich and lustrous red varnish over a golden ground.  It measures 15″ and was completed in 1801.

I'm interested in this William Forster III viola.
